Following the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and al-Jolani, during which Trump said he was satisfied with al-Jolani and described him as “an extraordinary person,” claims have emerged that a plan for an attack on Lebanon has been initiated under U.S. direction.
According to this account, the reported operation suggests that the United States and Israel were unable to defeat Hezbollah directly and are now relying on Syrian terrorist groups to escalate pressure along the Lebanese border.
Lebanese media outlet Lebanon Debate claimed that Syrian terrorists departed the city of Homs late last night and moved toward the border region with Lebanon.
Eyewitnesses in Homs reportedly said the reinforcements included military vehicles, medium and heavy weapons, and fighters carrying individual firearms and sniper rifles.
According to available information, Abu Malik al-Talli, described as the commander of Takfiri terrorists, arrived in Homs from Idlib about a week ago. He previously operated in Arsal and had been accused of involvement in the kidnapping of Lebanese soldiers and their subsequent beheading.
If confirmed, these developments could mark a significant escalation along the Syria–Lebanon border and raise new questions about the regional security implications of Washington’s engagement with Syria’s new leadership. At the time of publication, the reported troop movements and the broader allegations regarding U.S. direction had not been independently verified.
